In Japan , it was called Sai, in
Indonesia it called Trisula and in Malaysia it called Tekpi. A weapon with
three branch, two short at side and a long branch in the middle. It was told
and known as the king of all weapons. How true it is, we have to find out what
is the significant of this weapon. The design look the same weather Japanese or
Malay tekpi/sai but in full view it is totally different. The Japanese
tekpi/sai are build in round while the Malay tekpi/sai are build in having
sides. The other different the Japanese tekpi/sai are not that sharp at the
edge while Malay tekpi/sai are sharp.

In terms of maneuvering it is almost
the same, the used of mother finger to changed the position of the weapon. The
used of the edge and beginning of the tekpi/sai which are look like an hammer.
All this point are used for striking and locking. The two short branch function
are the most important in maneuvering in this weapon art. There are flip ,stab
,throw ,resist ,fend are the main criteria of the tekpi. In Silat Seni Gayong
the art of tekpi are consists of movement, escape, hitting and locking which
are utilized with the tekpi.
All the training in this art are
to make ready for the student to used tekpi as a weapon. How it will counter
with various weapons, How to flip ,stab etc and especially countering other
weapons with throw, fend etc. All this techniques will be taught accordingly as
per such curriculum in order for mastering the art, especially when maneuvering
and changing the movement of the weapon.
