KHTC Traditional Musician Team

KHTC move a step further. For the first time a group of traditional musician was established. 6 person are assigned to undergo a training to play the instrument. The musical instrument was made from Kelantan and as per schedule it was ready in the 3rd week of November. The instrument are consists of 2 gendang, 1 gong and 1 serunai. The player selected will undergo various style of tune especially the traditional method. They also will be taught the tune of a nobat.

KHTC had a big plan for the setup team and it is going to be the biggest task and challenge for them. For all who are interested to utilized the team please feel free to contact any KHTC members .

KHTC Gendang and Serunai

The purpose of setting up the musician are to prepare and equip  as we can in order to preserved the adat of Silat Seni Gayong. Although Silat Seni Gayong don't utilized music during their event except the event of adat, the traditional music is an important part of the Malay culture.

The understanding and coordinating while playing the instrument are important between all the players. It is not only coordinating between musician but is also coordinating with the silat performer. Although Silat Seni Gayong apply music on the adat event but other silat style did utilized music in their silat play. Here KHTC will add as another traditional musical player in any event invited.

KHTC Gong

There are different style of tune from the north to the south. KHTC are taking a step to learn all the different tune and become a centre or preserving the traditional tune of traditional gendang music in the Malay Peninsula. It will take years and years of study and learning but it must get to start from the line. This is not an easy vision but nothing can be achieve without trying and doing. At KHTC we feel strongly that we will achieve the target and with the support of all the members helping hand in hand we will climb the mountain as high as we can.

KHTC Final Evaluation Test

One of the gelanggang under KHTC supervision has conducted evaluation test for their members. The event was performed on 26 November 2013 at Gelanggang Unisel Shah Alam and on 28 November 2013 at Gelanggang Unisel Bestari Jaya,Kuala Selangor. Those involved are Unisel students who join Silat Seni Gayong for their Co curriculum activities. Which are compulsory for a first year student and for those who has not completed their Co curriculum activities when they admitted to the university. There are 20 boys and 10 girls involved in the grading at Unisel Shah Alam and 24 girls and 5 boys at Unisel Bestari Jaya. Total for these semester is 59 students involved in the subject HDU 1211.

Unisel Shah Alam

The grading started at 22h00 and finish at 00h00 for both venue.They were tested the Silat Seni Gayong movement, escape techniques and striking techniques. The grading is done after 28hours of Co curriculum activities and if they passed they will be given a marked for their involvement. This is the 4th group Co curriculum team who were been graded. If they manage to passed this test they were eligible to received 1 credit hour  for this subject. The Co curriculum grade is based on outdoor activities, silat training and participate in adat -istiadat of Silat Seni Gayong.

The HDU 1211 which are a code for the subject are monitored and supervised by Unisel Co curriculum unit . This subject was first started early 2012 when KHTC submit and suggested a proposal to the university to accept Silat Seni Gayong as one of the subject in education for the university.

Unisel Bestari Jaya

Since it was launched, up to date 129 students has join the activities. In the first semester 2012 the subject is offered only for 40 students, only 17 students enroll. In the second semester 2012 the subject is enroll by 32 students. For first semester 2013 the enrollment was 21 students and in the second semester the enrollment increased to 59 students due to the subject was offered for 80 students per semester.  Beside Malaysian student. they are also student from different country such as China, Iraq, Afghanistan and India. After completed the Co curriculum subject they are free to continued Silat Seni Gayong through the club in the university.

Through these the university is putting an aimed to produced students who are competitive and open minded. As well as producing  a noble and dynamic characteristic future leadership with a strong spiritual reformation and generate healthy physical body and mind.

Video KHTC - Seni Lembing

Seni Lembing is one of the many art of weapons techniques in Silat Seni Gayong.The above video is taken from Seni Lembing seminar which was schedule in 2009. In the video only some basics movement in the techniques of Seni Lembing is shared.It is advisable to seek the knowledge from qualified instructor to gain the art. The video is just to share and open the mind to all martial arts practitioners on Silat Seni Gayong and as an inspire to all Silat Seni Gayong brothers and sisters to really seeking and preserved this ancient art.

In the video also shown the handling palms when performing the techniques and movements of the steps.Shared along is the art of thrust and handling of the Lembing,twisting and changing of the hand while making a movements.Hope with this video will give an idea of Seni Lembing in the art of Silat Seni Gayong.

Art of Knife

The art of knife in Silat Seni Gayong consists of straight stabbing or thrust,"pasak" and "radak". Knife can be defined as cutting instruments consisting of sharp blade attached to a handle. The blade can be single or double. The used of knife in self defence is to stab to the body and slice mainly on the inner angle of the body.

In the art of Silat Seni Gayong the knife are used to stab and wound the opponent. A stab from a knife can leave an internal bleeding to the body and the wound left behind are unseen. The small wound from outside and a bleeding internally and if making any movements can kill any person. The thrust of a knife is like killing someone slowly if it doesn’t get medical help as soonest as it can. The best method to slow the bleeding is to stop moving and it will make the heart beat slowing down and the bleeding flow will be low before getting help and this might save the life.

Knife Forward Thrust

It is terms as “anak sungai’ in the art of Silat seni Gayong. What is “anak sungai” or forward thrust? Anak sungai are straight forward thrust as flowing of a river and the smooth stab on this movement are done quickly to leave the mark of the thrust almost unseen and small

Knife Downward Thrust

It was terms as “pasak jantan” in the art of Silat Seni Gayong. The method of this technique is a thrust with force downwards in a vertical line. “Jantan” defined as energy of a man and the thrust are applied in a force of strength. In any chance took place by blocking the thrust might have been broken or break by the force if it was done without proper blocking technique.

Knife Upward Thrust

It was terms as “radak jantan’ in the art of Silat Seni Gayong. It was an upward thrust done by vertical line and with a force strike. The motion of the thrust will penetrate any block that applies to it. And this thrust techniques without proper avoiding techniques will be a dangerous impact to the body.

Effect of A Knife Attack

A knife thrust if properly done with a perfect technique can be deadliest. The thrust or stabs of a knife leave a cut that can generate internal bleeding. The smallest and sharpen the blade, are the more dangerous when handling or delivering a knife thrust. The cut of the knife is almost unseen from the thrust ,leaving a badly internal bleeding from inside. This stab will make a badly damage to the body internal parts which are dangerous and can kill someone. 

While a slice from a knife will only wounded some parts of the outside body, unless a major vain were cut from the slice that can get someone kill. But the stab are more dangerous living behind badly damage that need a medical assistance if compare with the slice which can be done with first aid even the cut is on the vein of the muscle.

An attack from a knife could be a destruction weapons if an aggressor knew the way to handle it in a correct techniques. In countering a knife attack we needed a full understanding in a way of disarming, body position, distance etc. Must bared in mind an attack from knife is not a set of movement when we are in martial arts training. The situation in the street or place of been aggression is different. An attack is an instant act of an aggressor and to counter this attack needed a highly self confident, alertness, highly skill knife defending knowledge and applications. Training in a martial arts is a way to prepared someone for this kind of knowledge and applying it accordingly when necessary. In Silat Seni Gayong, we are there to guide for these purpose. In the art it is covered with all the necessary knowledge of the weapons from the beginning to the end in order preparing oneself ready for any situation.
